Two doctors who met in the UK, married twice to honour both halves of who they are.
Niyati’s family is from Dubai, though she’d built her life in the UK — where she met Josh, a fellow doctor. When it came time to marry, they chose Dubai, and a traditional Hindu ceremony: Josh and his family flew in from England for it, stepping into every ritual and function of an Indian wedding, much of it gloriously new to them.
“The day is finally here,” Niyati said after a week she called “crazy and chaotic” — three days of celebration finishing, as she put it, “in spectacular style, just how he wanted it.” Two worlds, one vow, rose petals falling over a Dubai night while two families from opposite ends of the world cheered as one.
And because a love like this deserves to be told in both their languages, they did it again — a white wedding back in the UK. Two ceremonies, two cultures, one marriage, honoured in full.
