It began, of all places, with a Facebook friend request.
Their first date was at Starbucks — “the safest place,” as Natasha puts it — and Sahil turned up forty minutes late. Eleven years later, somehow, here they were. She’s from Hong Kong; he’s from Gurgaon, and before this wedding she’d set foot in India exactly once. Two cultures, two religions, two families who’d never met — all of them folding into one celebration on the beaches of Goa.
The vows held the whole of it. “I will celebrate your successes,” Sahil promised, “and be your best friend through your losses as though they were my own.” And then, quietly: “You complete me in ways I didn’t think possible. I did not know how to love — I did not know how love could be.”
Eleven years, gone in a blink. A boy from Gurgaon, a girl from Hong Kong, and a beach in Goa where it all became official. As Sahil put it, grinning, before the night had even begun — the fun is yet to come.
